About the Job
This is a unique and exciting opportunity for an Accounting Manager to part of smart Europe’s central accounting team based in Germany. This role works closely with our local controllers (11 markets in EU) and is instrumental in ensuring the daily business transactions are managed in a timely and effective manner including book/record keeping, assisting with accounts payable and accounts receivable management, cash flow reporting, month-end/year-end closing and other essential finance activities.
Responsibilities
- Support the Head of Accounting within the accounting framework and guidelines, perform accounting and reporting activities to ensure accurate financial statements are presented each month and additionally year-end closing
- Support the Accounting Team in preparing and submitting required financial reporting pack to parent company and external auditors for year-end closing
- Prepare financial statements in accordance with local GAAP for EU markets and IFRS for group reporting
- Assist with designing and implementing internal controls for the accounting department in accordance with the group and regulatory requirements
- Monitor and perform sample checks regularly to ensure internal controls are met
- Prepare necessary reporting towards the Internal Control System for periodic reporting as determined by the Risk Management Framework of the company
- Support in preparing and updating internal accounting guidelines / policies
What you bring
- You bring a Bachelor/Master’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting or comparable Finance related degree
- You bring 5+ years of operative accounting experience in the finance area; experience in the automotive industry advantageous but not essential
- You must have experience and working knowledge of IFRS - Essential
- You must bring strong working knowledge and experience with local GAAP for any of the following countries – France, Italy, Spain, UK, Switzerland, Austria, Netherlands, Belgium or Portugal - Essential
- You have proficient legal knowledge about finance processes in sales and distribution
- You have strong working knowledge of accounting software tools ideally SAP (user and configuration)
- Excellent communication skills (written & verbal) and analytical skills
