About the Role
We are looking for a highly motivated Operational Sales Controller to join our Operational Controlling team at smart Europe GmbH. In this role, you will take ownership of Contribution Margin steering for vehicle sales, acting as a key business partner to Sales and supporting data-driven decision-making across the organization.
You will also serve as the main point of contact for headquarter on all Sales Controlling topics, ensuring alignment and effective communication between local and global teams.
Your Responsibilities
- Strategic Financial Steering: Take ownership of Contribution Margin steering for vehicle sales across European markets to optimize profitability.
Define and monitor financial targets, proactively identify risks and opportunities, and initiate appropriate measures to ensure target achievement.
- Commercial Business Partnering: Act as a key advisor to the Sales team for financial planning and quarterly performance reviews
- Operational Excellence: Lead and optimize the monthly closing process for new vehicle sales, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and timely reporting in collaboration with the markets
- Profitability Governance: Review and challenge discount requests to ensure strict alignment with corporate financial targets
- General Distributors Controlling: Conduct comprehensive controlling activities for General Distributor business, including deep-dive performance analysis and strategic financial steering
- Value-Added Insights: Deliver actionable recommendations and data-driven insights to boost both financial performance and operational efficiency
- Innovation & Systems: Proactively drive the continuous improvement of controlling frameworks and digital reporting tools.
Your Profile
- Education: University degree in Business Administration, Finance, Controlling, or a related quantitative field.
- Professional Experience: Several years of relevant experience in controlling, finance, or business partnering, ideally within the automotive industry.
- Subject Matter Expertise: Deep understanding of sales controlling and contribution margin analysis.
- Operational Track Record: Proven experience in managing monthly closing processes and complex financial reporting.
- Analytical Competence: Highly analytical mindset with the ability to solve complex problems and provide strategic clarity.
- Communication & Influence: Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities, with the confidence to challenge and advise business partners.
- IT & Digital Skills: Advanced proficiency in Excel, Powerpoint (incl. Thinkcell) and financial systems (e.g. SAP); hands-on experience with BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Jedox) is a plus
- Data-Driven Mindset: Experienced in leveraging modern IT tools and large datasets to drive data-driven decision-making.
- Language Skills: Fluency in English and German (both written and spoken).
