The smart Europe GmbH Product Management Senior Specialist is responsible for the product management of a product to be offered in the European markets that smart operate in. This person’s primary responsibility is to ensure that the European voice of customer is represented at all stages of the product lifecycle.

This role acts as an important bridge to input requirements and exchange knowledge with the global product management team providing input on a number of topics including: product strategy / planning, feature offering, specifications, pricing, volume, positioning, competitor analysis, and face-lift definition and management.

Task Descriptions-

 

Product Strategy & Planning:

  • Generate ideas and develop strategic and tactical product plans for model line(s) by analysing and interpreting various data, research, segment trends, and industry reports.
  • Develop optimal model line strategy including but not limited to: features, options, packages, colour, interiors, on-demand features, pricing, volume, etc.
  • Next-generation Strategy: provide input from European perspective for next-generation incl. requirements, requesting improvement based on current model lines, and tracking equipment changes, project pricing, and product assumptions

Product Management:

  • Define and ensure successful product lifecycle management.
  • Develop product offering logic with different line-ups and feature set fits European markets and is benchmarked against competitor set.
  • Calculate each product line’s take rate based on forecast for business case calculation.
  • Estimate pricing for each model and product lines to ensure product competitiveness. Support carline pricing process with required stakeholders inputs and approvals.
  • Give input and get alignment with Global Product Management team in China.
  • Provide timely input into the smart Europe launch planning workstream

Product Marketing:

  • Deliver product value and benefits for marketing communication (Autoshow, press conference).
  • Develop positioning and stories of substance for product marketing & PR communication
  • Support product training with product information and vehicles.

Product Documentation:

  • Document all product related specs coding to ensure smooth ordering and selling process. Change management of related product documents.
  • Align with internal departments e.g. Aftersales, eCommerce, etc for product related content.

    Qualification-

    Education

    • Bachelor degree or above in Engineering and/or Business

    Professional Experience

    • 4 years+ experience in automotive industry – premium or EV brand experience is a plus
    • Global headquarters, regional headquarters, and in-market experience considered
    • Demonstrated success defining and launching excellent products.
    • Strong knowledge of the automotive industry, especially European car markets, electric vehicles, and overall market trends including but not limited to autonomy, connectivity and sharing
    • Experience of the vehicle product development process – gateways, prototype builds, development phases
    • Experience in a joint venture context and China related business or any Far Eastern business would be an advantage

    • Passion about automotive industry is an advantage
    • Good written and oral communication skills in English, must be comfortable with public speaking in English.
      German and Mandarin beneficial, other European languages are a plus
    • A valid European driving license would be beneficial
