The Senior Specialist VSC is operationally responsible for a subject of the supply chain in the team like EU-distribution, logistics quality and/or logistics IT. This includes being an expert in the mode of transport and give orientation and transparency to all other team members. As well the person is coordinating in his responsibility with all interfaces within and outside of smart EU.
Your responsibilities
- Lead the strategic design and continuous evolution of the European distribution network, including tender governance, budget ownership, and long-term capacity planning, to ensure scalable, resilient, and cost-optimized logistics operations
- Drive the optimization and harmonization of European distribution operations across road and short-sea transport networks, leading operational excellence initiatives, supporting market launches, and advancing automation and process standardization
- Develop and manage strategic partnerships with logistics service providers, ensuring service excellence, contractual alignment, performance optimization, and continuous improvement across the network
- Act as a key business stakeholder for logistics IT systems, driving system-related projects, process enhancements, and cross-functional transformation initiatives to improve operational efficiency and scalability
- Lead logistics quality management activities, including governance of operational standards, oversight of damage claim processes, and the development and standardization of service provider procedures and documentation
- Be an active project member or project leads in internal and external projects regarding the area of
- responsibility of the supply chain
- Own carrier performance management across operational and compliance KPIs, driving accountability, governance, risk mitigation, and sustainable performance improvements throughout the transportation network
What you bring along
Education
- University degree in Logistics, Business Administration or comparable education
Professional Experience
- Advanced experience (3-5 years) in similar positions in a forwarding agency, production environment or any other logistics environment
Knowledge / Functional Expertise
- Very good logistics knowledge – preferred in Outbound Logistics
- IT skills - Data driven in analysis and automization / Microsoft Office especially Excel and Power BI / SAP / Transport Management Systems
- Languages: Fluent in English (speaking and writing) - other languages especially German and Chinese are beneficial
