Key Account Manager Fleet & Used Car France (f/m/d)

 

About this role

As a Key Account Manager – Fleet & Used Car, you will drive fleet and used car strategies in collaboration with dealership partners. You’ll identify B2B opportunities, manage key commercial accounts and leasing partners, and optimize the fleet sales process. On the used car side, you’ll lead operations, launch a new label, manage remarketing activities, and align residual value strategies with European guidelines in coordination with local and smart Europe GmbH teams.

 

Your responsibilities

 

Fleet: Organisational & Business operations

  • Drive B2B sales performance by planning and delivering forecasts in alignment with smart Europe’s sales leadership.
  • Acquire and develop key B2B accounts in the French market through tailored framework agreements and strategic negotiations.
  • Manage and strengthen relationships with leasing companies and their agencies to support long-term fleet partnerships.
  • Oversee national framework agreements and contracts, ensuring compliance with volume targets and commercial terms.
  • Implement and optimize the fleet sales process based on European guidelines, ensuring operational excellence.
  • Lead the evolution of digital distribution models and support the rollout of innovative business approaches.
  • Manage the internal demo fleet to ensure optimal usage and support local marketing activities aligned with sales goals.

 

Used Car Operations:

  • Support the local roll-out of the Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) strategy and implement effective action plans aligned with European guidelines.
  • Participate in local Residual Value (RV) negotiations with financial partners and national providers to strengthen brand and sales value.
  • Implement and manage online trade-in tools with the smart Agent network to drive new car sales.
  • Oversee the full buyback process, including defleet, inspection, refurbishment, and admin tasks with selected service providers.
  • Define and lead the national remarketing pricing strategy in collaboration with the Finance team.
  • Track and manage the buyback portfolio and used car stock, proposing actions to optimize rotation and reduce aging inventory.
  • Ensure smooth wholesale logistics and distribution operations in alignment with established processes.
  • Monitor used car KPIs and market trends to drive stock performance and align agent targets with company sales goals.

 

Representation:

  • Act as the main point of contact for dealers, agents, smart experts, and key external stakeholders, fostering strong, long-term relationships with customers, residual value providers, and business partners.
  • Represent the smart brand at customer meetings, dealer events, local fairs, and industry gatherings to strengthen brand presence and market engagement.

 

What you bring along

  • A Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, or a comparable field, ideally with a focus on sales or account management within the automotive industry.
  • 4+ years of experience in roles such as District Manager, Key Account Manager, or similar, with a strong background in the automotive sector.
  • Proven ability to drive sales success by translating targets into actionable strategies and delivering measurable results.
  • Solid project management skills with a track record of managing complex initiatives end-to-end, across multiple accounts and stakeholders.
  • Experience working with digital sales channels and the online presence of dealers or customers; background in leasing or financial services is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of retail dynamics, customer behavior, and digital transformation in a commercial context.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and public speaking skills – confident in building lasting relationships with key clients and internal partners.
  • Fluent in French and English, both written and spoken; additional European languages are an advantage.
